Contingency like no other Direct Debit Bureau

Every organisation should have a contingency plan in place should the worst happen. We are no different. Our client’s rely on us to provide them with a Direct Debit service which they can utilise 24/7. The fact that all of our clients can be directly affected by an error in our system places all the more importance on having an effective contingency plan.

When it comes to disaster planning, we are head and shoulders above resiliencethe rest. We have recognised the importance of ensuring our service is protected from disaster. Earlier this year, we made a heavy investment into upgrading our security and resilience systems. Many Bureaus’ operate their platforms from a single server located in their office building. Not only will their single server be prone to downtime which will affect their service, their employees will be able to access confidential client data. Our systems consists of three servers in two (tier 3) data houses in geographically split locations; all able to power the full SmartDebit platform on their own.

Why does this apply to our clients?

Our clients need to be able to sign up payers at all times of the day. We need to ensure their funds are in their account on the desired date. So whether it’s themselves entering the customer’s details or the customer signing up to pay by Direct Debit through their website. Should our primary server fail, the second one automatically kicks in begins to power the platform, and the third server goes on ‘hot standby’.
